Data licensing for UK businesses

Your company archive is a licensable asset.

London Data arranges licences that let AI developers train on a de-identified copy of your historic business records. You keep the originals, you decide what is included, and you pay nothing.

01 — The asset

Years of ordinary work, sitting on a server.

Most established businesses hold a long record of how work actually gets done. It was never meant to be valuable. To an AI developer, it is exactly what the public internet cannot provide.

.emlEmail archivesClient threads, internal decisions, negotiations.
.tktSupport ticketsProblems raised, diagnosed and resolved.
.docProcess documentsManuals, templates, how-to guides.
.chatTeams and SlackChannels, direct messages and the decisions made in them.
/projProject foldersBriefs, drafts, revisions, sign-offs.
.xlsxWorking filesTrackers, schedules, quotes and estimates.
.rvt .dwgDrawings and modelsRevit models, CAD drawings and design revisions.
.pdf +PDFs and moreReports, contracts, specifications, scans and almost any other file type.

Any sector qualifies.

If your team runs on email, Microsoft Teams or Slack, your archive is likely valuable. Communication-heavy and data-heavy sectors tend to attract the strongest offers.

02 — Why now

The public web has been read. The next frontier is real work.

Leading AI developers have already trained on most of the open internet: articles, forums and posts. That teaches a model what people say. It does not teach it how a business actually runs.

That knowledge lives inside private companies, so developers now license it directly. London Data has already completed licences for UK businesses, and demand for new archives is growing.

03 — Process

Four stages from enquiry to payment.

  1. 01AssessSix short questions about your size, sector and records. We tell you straight away whether you qualify and the likely range.
  2. 02MatchWe introduce you to the licensing partner best suited to your records, and you know who they are before anything is agreed.
  3. 03PrepareYou choose the scope. Records then go through professional de-identification, designed to remove names, client details and identifiers.
  4. 04License and get paidA written licence sets out permitted use. Payment follows handover of the agreed copy.
04 — Privacy and control

Built for the scrutiny of a board and a DPO.

Every engagement is structured around UK GDPR and your existing confidentiality obligations. You stay in control at each step.

No access to your systemsYour team exports the records. We never request credentials or connect to your network.
Professionally de-identifiedRecords are processed by specialist data partners whose role is to remove personal names, client details and identifiers.
A written licenceRecords are licensed for training AI models, on terms set out in a written agreement.
You approve the scopeNothing moves until you have signed off exactly which records are included.
05 — Valuation

What drives the value of a licence.

Four factors set your range: the size of your team, how long you have been trading, the volume of records, and how specialist your sector is. Rare, well-kept archives in niche industries attract the highest offers.

For many businesses a licence funds a key hire, a new market, or clears debt — without dilution and without a loan.

06 — Questions

Plain answers.

Is this legal?

Yes. You grant a licence to use an anonymised copy of your records for AI training, under a written contract. You keep ownership of the originals, and records go through professional de-identification.

Could our records reach a competitor?

Records are licensed for the purpose of training AI models, under a written agreement. We are happy to talk you through the terms before you commit to anything.

Do you need access to our systems?

Never. Your own team selects and exports the records. We do not ask for credentials or connect to your network.

What happens to client and staff details?

Records go through de-identification by specialist data partners, designed to remove names, contact details, account numbers and other identifiers. You agree the scope before anything is handed over.

What does it cost us?

Nothing. Our commission is paid by the licensee, never by you.

When are we paid?

Once the scope is agreed and the anonymised copy is handed over. Timings depend on volume, and we guide you through each stage.

Will we know who the buyer is?

Yes. You know which licensing partner you are working with before you agree to anything.

07 — About

Built by business owners, for business owners.

London Data was founded by two business owners who saw how much value sits unused in an established firm's records, and how few owners know it can be licensed. The aim is simple: help businesses turn that archive into capital, safely and on their own terms.

We work with a small number of specialist licensing partners and have already completed licences for UK businesses. Every engagement is kept strictly confidential, which is why you won't find client names on this page.
